In 1980s, reform and opening-up surged throughout China. With the deepening of market economy reform, fundamental changes have taken place in the foreign trade system and management structure of China. Since 1987, Chinese foreign trade enterprises have gradually embarked on a road of independent operation while taking responsibility for their own profit and loss. The number of such enterprises has increased considerably and their scope of operation broadened. Competent foreign trade authorities at various levels have also begun to shift their functions to macro-control. Against such a background, an intermediary is necessary to coordinate the work between government and enterprises and among enterprises themselves. Hence China Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters—a self-disciplined organization that provides service to enterprises—came into being in 1988. CCCMC gathers some of the largest companies in the relevant industries of China. The business of its member companies covers ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, non-metallic minerals and products, construction materials, coal and coal products, oil and oil products, chemicals, plastics, fine chemicals, agro-chemicals, rubber products, etc.
China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles
Established in Oct. 1988, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT) has a membership of more than 11,000 companies in March 2009, representing 70% of China's total import and export trade in textiles and clothing. CCCT represents the most of China's textile and clothing sector in international trade.CCCT has always been devoted to promoting China's textile and clothing trade. CCCT actively helps its members deal with trade-related problems and safeguards the legitimate interests of the industry and member companies. On the other hand, CCCT is also committed to implement tasks entrusted by the government and offer proposals and references for government policy-making. Through its efforts, CCCT has played an important role in linking its members to the government as a bridge.
China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products & Arts-Crafts– CCCLA
Founded in 1988, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts (CCCLA) is, in accordance with relevant rules and regulations, a self-ruling organization composed of enterprises engaged in import and export business of light industrial products and arts-crafts. CCCLA 's membership has exceeded 6000 by the end of 2004.
China Chamber of Commerce for Import of Medicines & Health Products
Founded in May 1989, China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) is the leading and most influential national trade association in China with a mission to promote the international trade and cooperation in medicinal and health products. CCCMHPIE,directly under the Ministry of Commerce of China, has a diverse membership of more than 1,800 companies including most of the major manufacturers and trading companies of pharmaceutical and health products across China. The fields that CCCMHPIE covers range from Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM), pharmaceuticals, preparations, medical devices and equipment, dressings, biopharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, functional cosmetics to health products CCCMHPIE is very active in formulating and implementing government policies, governing import and export of medicines and health products. It represents the concerns of business to all levels of government as the voice of the industry. It lobbies government on trade issues via a number of channels including face to face meetings with governmental departments, participation in government task force and special committees, and conducting original research critical to the development of the industry. On behalf of the industry, CCCMHPIE also participates in bilateral and multilateral talks between the Chinese and foreign governments on medicinal products.
China International Contractors Association
Since its establishment in 1988, following the guiding principle of "Coordination, Guidance, Consultation and Service", CHINCA has been actively providing services, communicating appeals and strengthening industrial self-discipline to promote the development of China's foreign investment, international project contracting, labour service cooperation and other international economic and technological cooperation. Since China's reform and opening-up, its economic and technological cooperation with foreign countries has developed robustly. Chinese companies, with their advanced technologies, multi-industry expertise, strong capability and sound reputation, have made remarkable achievements in the international market. They have accumulated rich experiences in investment and cooperation while winning extensive confidence and acclaim. CHINCA and its members will, as always, sincerely cooperate with friends from all circles for common progress, and actively contribute its share to the economic development of all countries and the whole world in the 21st century.
Import and Export of Foodstuffs Native Produce and Animal By-Products
CFNA has over 5000 member companies scattered all over China, ranging from China's largest multinational agro farming, processing & trading corporations to small and medium companies. The member companies include state-owned enterprises, joint ventures, wholly foreign-invested companies and private companies. The total import and export volume of agro-products of CFNA member companies represents 60% of China's total import and export volume of agro-products, which is around 60 billion US dollar a year and with over 10% yearly growth rate. The commodity range of CFNA members covers vegetables & fruits, meat and aquatic products, foodstuffs, tea & honey, horticulture products, beverage and canned foods, forest & forest chemicals, native produce, feather and down, hairs, bristle, casing, leather and fur, carpets, etc.
Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products
Founded in July 1988, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) is a corporate organization composed of economic entities, who are independent legal person registered according to law in China, and have the right to do foreign trade (including enterprises with foreign investment). It has more than 3000 members now. In accordance with the provisions in Article 35 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the aim of the Chamber is to provide coordination, consultation and service. It organizes enterprises in the trade to safeguard the national interests, protect the lawful rights and interests of its members, maintain normal trade order and promote the development of foreign trade and economic cooperation on the basis of self-management and self-restraint.
